Orange Honey Releases Darkroom: Web-based Photo Editing with Desktop Application-quality Features.
San Francisco, Calif. — 18 May 2010 — Orange Honey, Inc. has been invited to participate in the 2010 Google Developer Sandbox at the Google I/O Conference.
On Wednesday, May 19th, the Seattle, Washington-based company will release Darkroom, a full-featured, web-based solution for photo editing, organization and sharing that leverages the latest advances in the language that powers the web: HTML. Orange Honey CEO Charles Pritchard will present Darkroom alongside other developers whose applications utilize technologies featured at the Conference. Among the common themes Google will feature this year is an increasing demand by consumers that applications be mobile — without sacrificing features.
Darkroom provides users with a free, online service that utilizes the HTML5 Canvas standard to work across major browsers without software downloads or Flash requirements. With the increasing popularity of mobile devices that do not support Flash, applications such as Darkroom — built upon the next-generation features of our latest web browsers — become an important part of the overall software ecosystem. Google’s focus on Darkroom emphasizes its place at the vanguard of standards-compliant, accessible photo-editing software.
Darkroom joins Sketchpad, a vector drawing application, to form the MugTug Suite, which as a whole satisfies the emerging demand for desktop-quality features in lightweight, user-friendly imaging software. For users looking to edit photographs on the fly, collaborate with friends and family members or generate high quality images, the MugTug Suite is emerging as the premier solution.
